What We Do
The Two Harbors Trail Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to building, caring for, and promoting non-motorized trails for public use in and around Two Harbors. Our work is grounded in stewardship, collaboration, and a shared belief that trails strengthen communities.
We work alongside volunteers, land managers, landowners, and local partners to support trail systems that serve a wide range of users and remain safe, sustainable, and welcoming over time.
Trail Stewardship & Maintenance
We oversee the ongoing care of local trail systems, including routine maintenance, seasonal preparation, and improvements that enhance safety, flow, and durability. Our approach emphasizes responsible stewardship and thoughtful planning suited to each landscape.
Collaboration & Partnerships
Strong trails depend on strong relationships. We work closely with public agencies, municipalities, and landowners to ensure trails are planned and managed responsibly, balancing access, environmental considerations, and community needs.
Advocacy & Future Development
In addition to caring for existing trails, we advocate for expanded trail access in the Two Harbors area. This includes leading the Two Harbors Trail Center Vision Plan, a community driven effort to improve connectivity and create new opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Trails for Community & Youth
We believe trails play an important role in healthy communities. Our work encourages youth to recreate in active ways, supports families playing outdoors together, and contributes to quality of life for residents while welcoming visitors year round.
